Verdict

A fantastic new entry in the infamous Birds of Prey team history. The introduction of Huntress onto the Rebirth era team while the mystery of who the new “Oracle” is will keep fans invested from the very beginning. The team’s dynamic and the impact each has on the city of Gotham and beyond make this a relatable story as well, as powerful female heroes are finally becoming more prevalent and showcase the power of teamwork as the streets of Gotham become more and more dangerous. A must read for the DC Rebirth era, as well as the perfect read to prepare for the upcoming Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey film.

Verdict

A fantastic way to keep the legacy of Princess Leia going, this miniseries did a marvelous job of showcasing the strength and courage and overall hope that Leia embodied in the franchise, and why she was one of the strongest heroes of the Star Wars series. Exploring the aftermath of her homeworld’s destruction and getting to see the history and culture of her people play out was fantastic to see, and the artwork was beautifully done and used a warmth that spoke to the tone of the character herself. A must read Star Wars series.

CollectingRed Hood & the Outlaws 1-6

Verdict

Red Hood has always been a fascinating character, but seeing his character growth in this DC Rebirth era is great to see. The conflict of proving himself to Bruce by not killing and his desire to end crime for good play out well here, as does his new relationship with fellow outlaws Artemis and Bizarro. Each brings a unique perspective to the story while also showcasing that heroes don’t always follow a black or white moral code, but that doesn’t mean they’re not heroes. A great read with a fantastic opening villain in the narrative and a brilliant origin story to the team and Bizarro himself.

Getting the chance to explore the Marvel multiverse is always a fun time. The evolution of their daughter Annie, as well as Mary Jane becoming her own hero as well, makes the blend of family dynamics and heroics a fun journey to go on. William Shakespeare’s Star Wars by Ian Doescher Book Review

Like the cover says, “Verily, A New Hope”! That’s right everyone, the worlds of Shakespeare and Star Wars collide in author Ian Doescher’s
“William Shakespeare’s Star Wars”. Here is the synopsis:

MAY THE VERSE BE WITH YOU!

Return once more to a galaxy far, far away with this sublime retelling of George Lucas’s epic Star Wars in the style of the immortal Bard of
Avon. The saga of a wise (Jedi) knight and an evil (Sith) lord, of a beautiful princess held captive and a young hero coming of age, Star Wars
abounds with all the valor and villainy of Shakespeare’s greatest plays. ‘Tis a tale told by fretful Droids, full of faithful Wookiees and
fearsome Stormtroopers, signifying… pretty much everything.

Reimagined in glorious iambic pentameter, William Shakespeare’s Star Wars will astound and edify Rebels and Imperials alike. Zounds! This is
the book you’re looking for.

This was given to me as an early Christmas gift, and I have to say this is one of my all time favorite gifts I’ve ever gotten. I’ve always been
a fan of classic William Shakespeare works, and I’m a big fan of the Star Wars universe, and yet I had no idea these two things had been
combined into a novel before. Written as one of Shakespeare’s infamous plays, the story is beautifully translated into the unique word only
Shakespeare could speak. From the comic relief of characters like R2-D2 and C-3PO to the haunting inner monologues of characters like Han Solo,
Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi, this is the literary classic of the 21st century readers have been waiting for.

The themes explored in this book are Shakespearean themselves, delving into the complicated relationships between Luke and Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan and
Darth, and even hint at the unknown relationship between Darth and Luke. This book does a great job of delving into the darkness that has
consumed Darth Vader, something that is not done in the original film. Overall, this is a beautifully written retelling of an already classic
story in a voice that defines the word “classic” itself. This is a book that everyone should read, so be sure to pick up your copies of author
Ian Doescher’s “William Shakespeare’s Star Wars” today!
