The Synopsis

The speed and complexity of change in business practice has never been greater than today. Navigating this “new and lasting norm” requires for any organization, besides other factors, two principal elements: Managers and leaders who are capable of coaching their team members as well as a new type of workforce that can quickly adapt to changing environments, can acquire new skills necessary to be successful in the future, and is willing and capable of stepping up to take over responsibility. The book argues that internal coaching is an excellent tool to onboard, integrate, and develop (new) employees. Successful coaching will result in higher job satisfaction (for both coach and coachee), better work and business results, and superior retention levels: A long-term win for both the organization, its employees, and customers.

Based on extensive interviews with both tenured leaders and new employees, focus groups with learning & development experts, and a comprehensive literature research as well as the author ́s own in-depth coaching knowledge and expertise, this book proposes an academically researched, developed, and validated model of eight dimensions of successful coaching as well as a five-step implementation plan which can be used as an impactful framework to embed coaching skills in organizational settings to create a sustainable and growth-generating coaching culture.

The Review

This was a truly engaging and meticulously researched read. The author does an excellent job of writing in a way that delivers the information in a clear and concise way and writes in a way that readers can engage and understand the material being taught by the author and relayed through research and study.

The research and development that went into this book are evident throughout this whole book, especially when engaging with the five-step plan that the author introduces to creating this coaching culture. This is the perfect read for those looking to improve their business in the wake of the pandemic and hoping to grow an environment that encourages new employees to grow and be taught rather than ordered around, highlighting the key differences between a boss and a coach.

The Verdict

A memorable, thought-provoking, and educational read, author Andreas van der Heydt’s “Building A Coaching Culture: How Managers As Coaches Can Include And Develop New Employees Successfully” is a must-read business and nonfiction read. The research and case studies the author presented were not just sound enlightening as well and pushed businesses and managers to develop in-house coaching programs that will empower and enrich both the business and employees as well. The Review

This was such a captivating and engaging read. The author did an amazing job of striking that wonderful balance that is needed in nonfiction reads between well-researched information and facts given to the reader and the more personal, well-experienced moments in the author’s own life to validate their findings.

The way the author is able to utilize the power of connection not only for people’s careers, but for their personal lives as well felt like the book became a lot more inclusive and well-rounded, and showed how these two aspects of a person’s life often cross over with one another. Aside from a couple of very minute grammatical errors here and there, the book flowed smoothly and showed a depth of research and ironically, a personal connection that the author held with the reader as they learned of the author’s own experiences and witty style of writing.

The Verdict

A memorable, educational, and thoughtful read, author Jen Nash’s “The Big Power of Tiny Connections” is a must-read nonfiction book! The inspiration and expertise for which the author writes are so engaging, and as someone who personally struggles with social anxiety yet craves personal connection, I found the author’s words to be moving and gave me a means of learning and growing in my social skills. Unlike so many self-help or how-to books that have come before it, this book actually does a great job of providing actionable information that new or established entrepreneurs alike can implement into their work. From finding one’s true self by identifying your natural abilities to finding the things you are passionate about and finding a way to balance the two, this book is filled with easy to understand and well-written guides for those seeking to truly understand the success of an entrepreneur.

While a short read, the author has done a masterful job of highlighting a lot of key information and knowledge that so many people venturing into the world of entrepreneurship often fail to understand. In a world where the necessity of entrepreneurship is crucial, this is the perfect way to engage with readers and help them to understand the tools they will need going forward. \

Chapter 4 in particular is great for those like myself who believe in mental health and gaining a firmer understanding of one’s own mental health and willpower, as it helps readers find a means of mastering what the author calls your “inner game”. Through a belief in ourselves and learning to conquer our fears and overcome the limiting beliefs that tell us that something is impossible, we can begin to chart our own path with a newfound confidence and strength that was always there, waiting to be released.

It’s a journey that’s allowed me to enjoy some amazing experiences, meet many inspirational people, and visit places I never thought possible. But more than that I want to use my own experiences to offer you the chance to live in exactly the same free and open way.

My Goal

As a Spiritual Life Coach I believe that anyone, from any walk of life, can go out there and change the world in their own unique way. It may not always be easy, but it does only become possible when you invest in your inner self and believe that it’s possible. The only problem is knowing how to make it happen so that freedom and spiritual awakening manifest themselves in your life.

My Approach

I specialize in offering Spiritual Life Coaching that’s designed to set you free in a whole host of ways that you could have never imagined. Your Future

Living a spiritual life means different things to different people, and some see that as a problem. I’m different in that I see it as a solution to every potential problem out there as it allows you to define your life in your own terms as you find your voice amongst the noise.

Leading In The First Person by Shawn Abrams Review

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Ray Croc once said, “The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves.” Often a leader is unable to lead until they learn to lead themselves in the right direction first. A sense of self will help a leader get a sense of others. That’s the goal author Shawn Abrams hopes to give future leaders in his novel, Leading in the First Person. Here’s the synopsis:

Leading in the First Person is a must read for those in leadership positions and those who would embrace it. The cover of this book holds the 5 Lead statements that leaders must concern themselves with on the way to success. Reading this book will allow you to:

• Recognize critical leadership mistakes and how to recover from them quickly

• Successfully lead your life instead of following it

• Build rather than just maintain relationships

• Shape your vision and influence others to follow it

• Review effective mentoring and coaching techniques

Leading is an act but leadership is a discipline! It’s hard work and sometimes unforgiving but very necessary.

What really stuck with me reading this book was the core concept of a leader isn’t telling someone what to do, but inspiring them and motivating them to do something. As a writer that’s the goal I set out every day with my stories, to inspire and motivate people to pick up a book, get lost in a story and see the overlying theme and message the novel implies. Shawn Abrams does an amazing job relaying this concept to his audience.

Using personal stories to relate to the subject, the author delves into everything from the power of secrets, overselling and respect vs courtesy. It shows future leaders and aspiring leaders how to not only separate themselves from the pack, but to lead others to be the best possible version of themselves. It’s written in a relatable way, while relaying key information that is crucial for future leaders everywhere.

Overall this was a brilliant, well written novel filled with critical details and great techniques leaders everywhere should have. It’s a novel of trust, honesty and the best way to motivate others and instill a sense of self in your leadership skills. The Importance of Dreaming

OK ladies and gents, its time for some life lessons. Today I wanted to talk about the importance of having dreams. I don’t mean the dreams you have when you are asleep. I’m talking about dreaming about the future. I’m talking about hope.

As I strive to achieve my goals of becoming a writer that can earn a sustainable living doing so, I think about the things I want to do in the future and use that as a means of motivation. It can be trivial things, like I dream of having year-long passes to Universal Studios and Disneyland. I dream about owning a PS4 and Xbox One. I dream about being able to go out on weekends to hang out with people.

It can be big things too. I dream about moving to my own place either in or near Los Angeles. I dream of having my books adapted into another medium, like a web series, television, or even a film or video game. I dream of finding love. I dream of meeting that special someone, and falling in love, finding that one person that gets you completely and understands what kind of person you are.

Whether your dreams are big or small in the grand scheme of things, they are all equally important, because dreams are what keep us going. They give us the drive to go forward in life. They help keep us motivated and strong. Dreams are a vital part of what makes us human, for dreams are what keeps hope alive, and hope is what keeps us going every day. So don’t forget guys, no matter what it is, always keep your dreams at the forefront of your mind.

What is the importance of dreams to you?
