Author Michael Mardel’s “A Seahorse Tale” Review

Full discretion: I was given a free copy of this book to review by the author. All opinions are my own.

Michael Mardel’s “A Seahorse Tale” is the first YA and middle school style book I’ve ever reviewed. As such, I took my time and really dove
headfirst into this story, and what I found was quite amazing. In this story, Mardel creates a fantastic fantasy land in which he not only
entertains both children and adults alike with his creative creations, but he implements a tale of philosophical proportions. Bringing to
light the various cultural beliefs, from Christianity and mythology to Darwinism, the author blends these cultures together and implements
them in his story expertly.

Listening to this tale of the Rainbow Serpent, a creator of life on Earth who gave life to the narrator of this story, the seahorse, is a
truly unique experience. The evolution of life on the planet and the experiences with the mermaid, pirates, and other figures throughout
history as told by the seahorse are remarkable. This story does a phenomenal job of blending history and the Australian culture with the
mythology of our world, and creates a fun read that is both creative and at times poetic in it’s delivery.

This is a must read YA book. The imagery used in this story are bright and vividly accurate. The vastness of this creation is something to
behold, and each page is dripping with detail and power that makes it easy to see it as an animated film in your head. Pick up your copy of
