Here’s what happened in the world of entertainment today, as reported for On Request Magazine.
1. American Psycho TV series in the works: The hit show FX is in the process of creating a sequel series to the original Brett Easton Ellis novel, American Psycho, (or the Christian Bale cult classic film if you prefer). The show would focus on Patrick Bateman, now 50 years old but still up to his murderous ways, who focuses his energies on a sadistic social experiment when he takes on a young protege. Here’s hoping it’s as good as Bates Motel and The Following.
2. The Killing canceled … again: The hit drama series The Killing was canceled once again by AMC. After the cliff-hanger of a season finale, it’s difficult to handle the news that this amazing television program won’t be around for a fourth season. Why AMC … why?
3. Sons of Anarchy Season 6 Premiere and controversy: The hit FX drama Sons of Anarchy kicked off it’s sixth season with classic SOA drama and action-fueled drama, the show focused on some dark, edgy storyline that would undoubtedly set up the rest of the season. Jax focused all his attention on finding a Iranian torture/porn outfit after Opie’s widow Lilah is attacked during a session, in hopes he can take his mind off the fact that his wife Tara is in prison and refuses to see him. Meanwhile, former U.S. Marshall Lee Torric presses Clay and Tara to turn on Jax and the club, and Gemma and Juice dodge questions after their betrayal of Clay at Jax’s request. The most controversial part of SOA’s premiere is the moment a young boy shown throughout the show is shown at a school, taking out a weapon and walking into the school, shooting and killing more innocent children. With the nation’s recent string of tragedies, it’s difficult to witness that story, but as a fan of the show and as a creative mind, it makes sense that the tragedy should occur, because it will no doubt provide the catalyst Jax needs to get his club out of the gun business finally. Overall, the premiere was great, and I look forward to seeing the heartbreaking drama of the premiere play out for the rest of the season.
4. Jurassic Park IV Get’s a new title: In movie news, Jurassic Park has been retitled Jurassic World, and has a release date of June 12th, 2015, making it one of several blockbusters to expect in 2015. Let’s begin the speculation immediately on the title’s meaning!
