On Request Magazine Best of E3 2012 Awards

E3 2012 is over, and as it is On Request Magazines first ever live coverage of the conference, here is our list of the Best of the E3 Expo.

Best Xbox 360 Game: Halo 4: The return of Master Chief was the best exhibit Microsoft unveiled at E3 this year. The epic first-person shooter brought fans back into the shoes of the most bad-ass space soldier around. Exploring the mythology of the forerunners and this new world Master Chief and Cortana are trapped on, this game showcased the brand-new technology in the game, and even showed everyone’s favorite AI losing her mind as her software begins to crumble away. With new and old enemies, new weapons, and new multiplayer maps to keep friends playing for hours, this is going to be one of the best game this holiday season.

Best PS3 Game: The Last of Us: This survival action/adventure title was showcased last year, but this year new footage was shown, giving us a glimpse of the third-person oriented gameplay as you explore the ruins of this massive city in the wake of a cataclysmic event. Showcasing the journey of a man and a young girl, the duo must scavenge and search for food and supplies as deranged survivors and mutated creatures that may or may not be zombies lurk around every corner. The vast scope of this game, from gameplay to the environments surrounding the characters to the intense action, this game is a must have for next year, and we cannot wait to see more of this game.

Best Nintendo Game: Zombie U: This new horror title for the new Nintendo Wii U was an instant hit at the Nintendo conference. Utilizing the motion controls of the new data pad and the built in microphone and camera, the Wii U can connect with your television, giving you two screens to play on. Along with this, Zombie U is a unique shooter horror game that explores the zombie apocalypse, but instead of focusing on checkpoints, revives, and restarts, if you die in the game, you are instead given a new survivor to play as, picking up from where your previous character left off, and you can even kill the new zombified version of your former character. This was the best game to come with the new Wii U hardware and software.

Best Action/Adventure Game: Assassins Creed 3: The imagery alone for this game is stunning. Taking players and fans of the series to the  American Revolution, you are thrust into the role of Conner, a half-American/half-Native American Assassin, Conner fights to take down the Templar threat wherever they lie, and in the process, ends up shaping the events of the war from the depths of the shadows. Featuring new actions such as naval ship battles on the high seas, new weapons such as tomahawks and bows and arrows, and amazing scenary that replicates the harsh conditions and new formed cities of the growing colonies, Assassins Creed 3 is sure to be the biggest hit of this holiday season.

Best Shooter: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2: Return to the epic war franchise that has engrossed millions around the world as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 hits the E3 stage. A futuristic shooter that shows what would happen if the worlds security technology, like drones, were taken over and instead became the worlds biggest threat. Filled with classic Call of Duty cinematic scenes, intense firefights, and advanced weaponry that gives power to the player, this first-person shooter was an instant hit at the E3 expo, and fans will not be disappointed with this game.

Best Horror Game: Dead Space 3: The return of the Marker and Issac Clarke is upon us. The most adventurous, action packed horror/survival series has returned, as Issac Clarke returns to battle the monstrous Necromorphs. Stuck on a frozen world with the bloodthirsty creatures, Issac must team up with a merciless soldier that allows for new drop in/drop out Co-Op gameplay. After being attack and seperated from the second games ally, Ellie, Issac goes in search of her and the reason why the people of this planet unearthed this known threat. Filled with bone-chilling terror, new threats in both human and Necromorph form, and the new Co-Op gameplay, this was by far the best E3 horror game.

Best Motion Game: Avengers: Battle for Earth: While not much is known about this game, the announced lineup of the Avengers, along with Wolverine, Storm, Spider-Man, Venom, and Magneto in this Kinect and Wii U game is by far one of the most inspired and ambitious superhero motion games to be presented at E3 this year.

Best Music-based Game: Just Dance 3: The return of this fan favorite game blends the amazing music throughout the decades with the dance crazes of those same decades. Allowing you to create new moves as well, as well as battle your friends in dance battles made this the must have music-based game of the conference.

Best Surprise at E3 2012: Watchdogs: This third-person shooter was the hit of the conference as they showcased the amazing open-world adventure game that has so surprisingly captured the city of Chicago. Following Aiden Pierce as he secretely and callously seeks out his target by manipulating the technology around him, he is thrust into a firefight as he lures his target to him. The scenary, gameplay, and mature story shown in the demo made experts think this was a next-gen game, but instead was revealed to be a current-gen game, surprising us all due to its advanced gameplay and cinematic experiences, making it the surprise hit of the conference.

Best of E3 2012: Assassins Creed 3: Once again, this was the biggest hit of the conference. With a brand new cinematic trailer that was truly breathtaking, to new gameplay footage that showcased the cold, harsh environments of the new world with the action-fueled gameplay that came with new character Conner as he fought the Templars, to the reveal of naval-based gameplay that had you controlling your own ship and getting into firefights on the dangerous high seas, this was by far the most anticipated game, and it did not disappoint in its presentation, making this the On Request Magazine Best of E3 2012 Game.
